GAME OF THRONES Star Lena Headey Reveals How She Wanted To See The Epic Fantasy Series End
A lot of fans were not happy with the way that HBO’s Game of Thrones series came to an end. The show should’ve had a much stronger ending than we got, but what’s done is done. Since the epic fantasy series concluded, many actors from the show have shared their thoughts on the final season, some saying that it was "rushed."
Lena Headey, who played Cersei Lannister in the series, recently talked with The Hollywood Reporter and during their conversation, she revealed what she wanted to see in the final season of Game of Thrones in regards to her character. She said:
"I think all of us did, to be honest, because you start trying to write the story yourself, and [Maisie Williams] and I would fantasize about a Cersei and Arya showdown; that she would come back as Jaime. That was our dream. But they made different choices."
When it was pointed out that the showrunners were under a lot of pressure to deliver, the actress said: "Exactly. I think in hindsight, everybody understands that. You're in it, and you've been so invested, there's a moment of, 'Why?' But I absolutely get it."
When asked if she misses the show, Headey replied, "No. I miss the people – because you fall in love with people, and you create these family units. So that takes a little while to go though. There's a weird grief from those relationships. But I don't miss it. We did it. We put everything into it. It changed everyone's fucking world, and we'll always have it."
I think all the fans imagined Game of Thrones ending in a different way than it did. It just didn’t deliver on the expectations. It’s a shame that this incredible series didn’t stick the landing.
