Glen Powell Hilariously Compares His Rom-Com ANYONE BUT YOU To THE REVENANT

Top Gun: Maverick actor Glen Powell is set to star in an upcoming romantic comedy alongside Sydney Sweeney titled Anyone But You. The movie looks like your typical cheesy rom-com, and Powell recently talked about the film, and hilariously compared it to Leonardo DiCaprio's historical survival drama, The Revenant. His reasoning is absolutely ridiculous, but it’s funny. Powell explained:

“The way Leo and that bear rough and tumble. It’s like are they gonna do it? Are they just scratching at each other? That’s my favorite part about the rom-com is the sense of play.”

Sweeney then interjected and joked that The Revenant was “the greatest love story I’ve ever seen.” Powell then went on to clarify why he likens his relationship with Sweeney in Anyone But You to DiCaprio and The Bear, saying: 

“[You're] waiting for someone to be malled, and I feel like you and I have that same chemistry that Leo and that bear have in that movie.”

Sweeney then asked who the bear in their relationship was, and Powell responded: “You know who the bear is.”

In Anyone But You, the two main characters played by Powell and Sweeney are old enemies from college, and they end up faking their relationship after they are invited to a destination wedding that will be attended by both their exes

The film is described as an “edgy comedy,” and the synopsis reads: “Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold - until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.”

Anyone But You is the latest R-rated comedy that will hit theaters on December 22, 2023.
