Hank Azaria, Sean Gunn, and More Announced for THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL Season 5

New cast members have been announced for Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 with the addition of Hank Azaria (The Simpsons), Sutton Foster (The Music Man), Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), Danny Strong (Dopesick) and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy).

They join David Paymer, who is returning to reprise his role as Harry Drake, and Alexander Gemignani (Carousel) who has been cast in a heavily recurring role in Season 5. Character details for most of the new cast members have not been revealed.

Strong and Gunn previously worked with series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino on Gilmore Girls, and Sutton Foster recorded “I Enjoy Being a Girl” for Season 3 of Mrs. Maisel and also starred in Sherman-Palladino’s Bunheads.

The series is set in the late 1950s, and “Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel has everything she has ever wanted -- the perfect husband, two kids and an elegant apartment on New York's Upper West Side. Her seemingly idyllic life takes a surprising turn when she discovers a hidden talent she didn't previously know she had -- stand-up comedy. This revelation changes her life forever as she begins a journey that takes her from her comfortable life on the Upper West Side through the cafes and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she makes her way through the city's comedy industry on a path that could ultimately lead her to a spot on the ‘Tonight Show’ couch.”

The synopsis for Season 5 reads: “After burning bridges and being cut from tour, Midge Maisel persisted through Season Four, rebuilding her career and reputation. The final moments of the season culminated with Midge leaving Carnegie Hall reinvigorated and ready to weather any blizzard. After an epiphany in front of The Gordon Ford Show‘s snowy billboard, Midge is ready to ‘Go forward’ and fight for her ascent to stardom — equipped with her quick wit and sharp tongue, and nothing else to lose. In the fifth and final season, Midge finds herself closer than ever to the success she’s dreamed of, only to discover that closer than ever is still so far away.”

The main stars of the series include series includes Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron and Luke Kirby.

The fifth and final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel premieres Friday, April 14, on Prime Video.
