If Josh Brolin Passes on GREEN LANTERN Series Matthew McConaughey and Ewan McGregor Are Next in Line
It was recently reported that Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame, Deadpool 2) was offered the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming DC Studio Green Lantern series Lanterns.
This news was confirmed by inside entertainment scooper TheInSneider, who also adds some new information.
It’s being reported that if Brolin passes on the opportunity to play this character, there are two other big actors on the list that the studio is going after for the role. Those actors are Matthew McConaughey, who is “next in line” and then Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor.
It’s been teased in reports that the Lanterns version of Hal Jordan will be a grizzled, veteran Green Lantern in the series, which is taking its cues from the likes of HBO's True Detective.
DC Studios is going for some big name actors for this role and it will be interesting to see who ultimately steps into it.
Lost and Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof is working on the pilot script along with Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and acclaimed comic book writer Tom King. Justin Britt-Gibson, Breannah Gibson and Vanessa Baden Kelly are also said to be on board, though this also has yet to be confirmed.
Production on Lanterns is set to star in early 2025 in the United Kingdom.
Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, who will make his debut in Gunn's Superman reboot, is expected to have a supporting role in the series.
