"It Was a S— Show": Charlie Cox Hilariously Roasts Mike Colter for Spoiling the Defenders’ Return in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN
Charlie Cox isn't letting Mike Colter forget about the time he accidentally spoiled the Defenders' big Marvel comeback in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. During an appearance at New York Comic Con, the Daredevil star had some fun at his co-star's expense, revealing how he made sure Colter paid for his mistake on set.
The trouble started back in April when Colter, who plays Luke Cage, got a little too excited about reuniting with his fellow Marvel heroes. He posted a group selfie on Instagram featuring Finn Jones and Krysten Ritter, who play Iron Fist and Jessica Jones, with the caption, “Been a while….”
Jones made things even more obvious when he jumped into the comments with, “Well, guess the cat’s out of the bag…”
Just like that, fans had confirmation that Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist would be returning for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.
Colter also shared a photo featuring Cox and Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page, but quickly deleted it after realizing the image gave away a major detail about the Season 2 finale.
Unfortunately for Colter, screenshots were already making the rounds, and there was no putting that secret back in the bag.
When Cox was asked about the incident at New York Comic Con, he had a pretty great response. “Yeah, that was a s— show. Yeah.”
Of course, Cox couldn't resist making Colter suffer a little for his accidental spoiler. He explained how he turned the whole situation into a running joke during filming.
“The only good thing about it was every day on set after that, you know on set you get given your sides, which have the scene numbers and the lines for the day. Every time I saw him with a set of sides, I would be like, is Mike allowed to have these guys? Are we sure he should have anything like that? So he felt terrible about it.”
Colter originally played Luke Cage in Netflix's Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders. His return alongside Ritter and Jones brings the original street-level Marvel heroes back together, something fans have been hoping to see since their Netflix shows came to an end.
Daredevil: Born Again, developed by Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman, and Chris Ord, debuted on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, with Season 2 following on March 24, 2026. Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in March 2027.
It's exciting to know the Defenders are getting another shot in the MCU, even if Marvel would've preferred to reveal that news on its own terms.
As for Colter, something tells me Cox will probably keep making him feel bad for the screwup.
