James Gunn Announces MAN OF TOMORROW For Summer 2027 with Superman and Lex Luthor Art

James Gunn has finally lifted the curtain on what comes next for Superman. After months of hints and speculation, the DC Studios president revealed that his follow-up to Superman will be Man of Tomorrow, which will soar into theaters on July 9, 2027.

Gunn shared the news on social media, dropping the title and release date without giving away story details. What we do know is that both David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are returning as Superman and Lex Luthor.

The actors posted their own teaser images alongside Gunn’s announcement, giving fans a coordinated first look.

What makes those images special is that they’re not just random art pulls. They were created fresh for the reveal by three powerhouse DC artists: Jim Lee drew Gunn’s, Jorge Jimenez illustrated Corenswet’s, and Mitch Gerads crafted Hoult’s. Each piece is dated this year, which suggests these designs are meant to reflect the direction the film will take.

The comics that built these characters are shaping the foundation for where the new DC Universe is headed on screen.

Gunn previously offered an update on the film saying, "I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the Superman Saga. The treatment is done – which means a very, very worked-out treatment. I'm working on that, and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today."

It’ll be interesting to see what this next story ends up being.
