James Gunn Calls Latest THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Batman Movie Rumor "Bullsh*t"

The Flash director Andy Muschietti is currently attached to direct DC Studios’ Batman movie The Brave and The Bold, and it’s a project that he’ll fully dive into after he’s finished with HBO’s IT prequel series Welcome To Derry.

But, a new rumor started making the rounds on the project from Hollywood scooper @MyTimeToShineH. He said: "[DC Studios] want to cast a middle-aged man to play the DCU Batman."

Well, Gunn has come out to harshly debunk this rumor. When asked about it on Threads, Gunn had a one-word response… “Bullshit.”

When someone asked how these rumors get started, Gunn shared an image of two cartoon butts with eyes and mouths, which suggests that the speakers are “talking out of their ass.”

Gun previously addressed Batman’s age in the DCU saying, “Superman was younger than in his forties and Batman MIGHT be a couple years older than Superman.” With Superman actor David Corenswet being 30 when he shot the film, then that would put Batman in his early 30s.

Gunn went on to acknowledge that went in comes to reporting rumors sometimes, reporters are misinformed or simply misinterpret what they hear. Bur, he also said that he thinks some rumors are made up out of whole cloth.

Regardless, James Gunn doesn't seem to be in any rush to fill that role as he’s been focused on the Superman, Supergirl, and Green Lantern projects.

When previously talking about DC Studios' plans for The Brave and the Bold, Gunn said: "This is the introduction of the DCU's Batman. This is the story of Damian Wayne, who is Batman's actual son who we didn't know existed for the first eight to 10 years of his life. He was raised as a little murderer and assassin. He's a little son of a bitch. He's my favorite Robin."

"It's based on the Grant Morrison comic book's run, which is one of my favorite Batman runs, and we are putting that all together right now."

DC Studios co-CEO, Peter Safran, added, "And this is obviously a feature film, and it's going to feature other members of the extended 'Bat-family', just because we feel like they've been left out of the Batman stories in the theater for far too long."

The Brave and the Bold's story will revolve around Bruce Wayne training his son, Damian, as Robin, adapting elements from Morrison and Frank Quitely's critically acclaimed Batman and Robin.

Three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo, Skyfall) is said to be writing The Brave and the Bold for DC Studios.
