James Gunn Reveals The One Thing in PEACEMAKER Season 1 That Isn't Canon in The DCU
James Gunn has already said that nearly everything that happens in the first season of Peacemaker is canon in the upcoming DCU that he’s building. But, he has revealed the one thing that won’t carry over… the Justice League.
As you know, Peacemaker was created and released while the DCEU was still a thing, and Gunn has said that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set in the DCU and will serve as a “soft reboot” of the series. He has assured fans that the timeline will make more sense when the series is released.
While speaking with Rolling Stone, Gunn confirmed that the events of Peacemaker Season 1 are still going to be canon to Peacemaker Season 2 and the larger DCU, but he then talks about the one exception.
“The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker.”
During the Peacemaker Season 1 finale, the Justice League shows up for a brief moment with Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s Flash trading some humorous dialogue.
The scene is played for laughs as the Justice League team members realize they’re too late to assist in fighting the Butterflies, which then evokes anger from John Cena’s Christopher Smith.
It will be interesting to see how that will be dealt with in Peacemaker Season 2. We’ll find out next year when the series returns in August 2025.
How do you think Gunn is going to handle the whole Justice League thing in Peacmaker in Season 2?
