James Gunn Confirms SUPERMAN and PEACEMAKER Season 2 Will Shoot Simultaneously; Says Only Season 2 is Canon

Director and head of DC Studios, James Gunn, is working hard to bring us the film Superman, his first film in the upcoming DC Studios Phase, Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The film just began shooting, and if that wasn’t enough work for Gunn to take on, he has confirmed that this summer, he will simultaneously start shooting the second season of his DC series Peacemaker.

When asked on social media the timeline for his Superman film related to Peacemaker, Gunn clarified, “Yes, Peacemaker takes place after Superman.” A fan responded, “Including season one?” Gunn said, Season one isn’t canon but no.”

The conversation went on, with Gunn reiterating, “Answering this again to be clear: Peacemaker season 2 will take place after the events in Superman.” A different fan then asked, “Is that important? Meaning events in Superman will have an impact on Peacemaker S2?” Gunn simply responded, “Yes.”

This is cool info for fans of Peacemaker! The actor also posted a long Threads post, which gave a little more insight on how he’ll pull off the dual direction of his upcoming projects, and also talks about a couple of his other projects in the works:

“The source is kind of iffy but this is true 😂. John Cena shared this on Howard Stern last week. To answer your follow-up questions: yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some); & yes, Waller’s still happening & Jeremy & Christal are hard at work writing great stuff, but the schedule was impacted by the strikes so it’ll come after Peacemaker”
