James Gunn Shares Photo of His Office Wall Complete With Superman Artwork That's Inspiring His Upcoming Film

Head of DC, James Gunn, is developing his upcoming film, Superman: Legacy, and he has been pretty consistent about dropping hints and behind-the-scenes tidbits for fans to enjoy that get us ready to see what he’s working on. In a recent post on Instagram, Gunn shared a cool photo of the wall in his office that features Superman artwork that is inspiring him on his current project.

Gunn previously shared that Superman for All Seasons, which is featured in the artwork, was his main influence. He shared on social media:

"Just received this stunningly gorgeous Absolute edition of Superman for All Seasons, one of my favorite Superman stories & a huge influence on Legacy (& a strangely perfect bookend with All-Star Superman). The late, great Tim Sale’s artwork & Bjarne Hansen’s watercolor work have never looked better - nor have Clark & Ma & Pa. Jeph Loeb’s elegant, confident story still sings."

So, if you want a glimpse of the visual and story style and tone that Gunn might be going for with his film, check out this comic. The comic recounts some of Superman's earliest adventures including leaving Smallville for Metropolis and battling his enemy, Lex Luthor. Superman for All Seasons is a coming of age tale, with four separate stories focusing on Clark coming to terms with his powers, his connection to Smallville, and the influence of those – particularly his parents, Lois Lane, and Lana Lang – around him.

Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

David Corenswet has been cast in the role of Clark Kent / Superman, and he’s joined by Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific.
