Jamie Lee Curtis Wants a Role in The Live-Action ONE PIECE Series and The Series Showrunner Responds
Jamie Lee Curtis is apparently a big fan of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece and she wants in on the live-action series! Following the confirmation of Season 2, Curtis is ready to campaign for a role in the series, and she wants to take on the role of Tony Tony Chopper's mentor, Dr. Kureha.
A lot of fans have been wanting to see Curtis in this role, and if she has anything to say about it, we might actually see her in the role. The actress has confirmed on social media that she will lobby the streaming service to join One Piece's cast as soon as the actors’ strike comes to an end.
Curtis shared some fan art of herself of Dr. Kureha and said: "ONCE the STRIKE against the greed of the AMTPT is SETTLED with a FAIR CONTRACT, I will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha."
Commenting on Curtis' recent Instagram post, one of One Piece's showrunners, Matt Owens, responded to the campaign, confirming that he is looking forward to talking with the actress: "Mommy dearest, that's why we sent you that figure! No need to lobby. Once we get what we deserve and get back to work, let's talk!"
So, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. The creative team behind the show has done such a great job with the casting so far. I honestly don’t care who they cast in the role of Dr. Kureha, as long as it’s the actress that they think will be best in the role.
One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his pirate crew as they explore a fantastical world of endless oceans and exotic islands in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King. The other main characters include Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson), and Sanji (Taz Skylar).
Steven Maeda is a co-writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the series along with Matt Owens, who is also co-writing and executive producing. The series also stars Morgan Davies (The Evil Dead) as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Alvida, Aidan Scott (Action Point) as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward (Hacks) as Buggy, McKinley Belcher III (Ozark) as Arlong, and Vincent Regan (Troy) as Garp.
