Jared Leto Says TRON 3 Is Getting "Closer and Closer" to Happening

A few years ago it was reported that Disney was developing Tron 3, and Jared Leto is attached to star in it. It was announced a couple of years later that Garth Davis (Lion) would be directing it. This seems to be a slow-moving project, but according to Leto, the project is getting closer and closer to happening. He recently told ScreenRant:

"I'm a super fan of TRON, and we are working hard on TRON with our incredible partners at Disney. Just an amazing group of creative people. We're getting closer. We're getting closer and closer, and who knows? Something may be [coming] sooner than later."

I love the Tron franchise. I’m a huge fan of the original film, and I loved Joseph Kosinski’s sequel Tron: Legacy. I was hoping to see that story continue, and it actually came incredibly close! But, in the end, the Disney executives at the time shut it down, which is a shame. It sounded like it would have been awesome!

Then this Jared Leto Tron project came to exist, and this going to be different than what was coming before. It has been said that the movie could bring back previous cast members. Disney music executive Mitchell Leib also previously said that the “time is right" for Tron 3 and they have a "great script".

We’ll just have to wait and see what is going on with this, and if Disney will actually move forward with it. If they do, I hope it really does tell a great story!
