Jason Momoa's LOBO Casting Reportedly Official with an Announcement Coming in 2024
There’s been a lot of talk for some time about Jason Momoa being cast as Lobo. However, it was pointed out in a recent report regarding Momoa not coming back to the role of Aquaman after the upcoming sequel that he was instead in talks to play Lobo. The report claims that the character could be a part of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy movie coming in 2025.
Industry insider Jeff Sneider confirmed in a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, that Momoa has been cast as Lobo and that DC Studios will be making an official announcement in early 2024. He said:
“It is true — Jason Momoa is Lobo. Done. Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo, and that will be officially announced most likely … I would say around February. It has nothing to do with the strike — it has to do with Aquaman. So Aquaman’s got to do theaters, and then it’ll be on Max … after it’s on Max and has played for a week or two on Max or whatever, I think in February — maybe March at the latest — you’re going to get an announcement about Momoa as Lobo — especially if he’s part of the Superman cast.”
Momoa is a perfect fit for this role, and it’s a DC character that seems to fit the actor better than Aquaman. It’s also a character that a lot of fans have been excited about seeing the actor play. Well, it’s looking like it’s actually going to happen.
First introduced in 1983, Lobo is an alien born on the utopian planet of Czarnia. Known for his brutal and violent nature, he single-handedly exterminated his entire race for a science experiment and has since become one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy. With superhuman strength, regenerative healing, and immortality, Lobo is nearly invincible and has often been at odds with some of DC's mightiest heroes and villains. He is known for his brash attitude, love for heavy weaponry, and distinctive catchphrase, "The Main Man.” Despite his often malevolent actions, Lobo operates by a personal code of honor, keeping his word once given and always fulfilling his contracts.
