Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie Reunite for Netflix Revenge Thriller DOGFIGHT
Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie are getting the gang back together for another trip into London's criminal underworld, and this time they're bringing their particular brand of action and mayhem to Netflix.
Statham is set to star in Dogfight, a new Netflix action thriller written, directed, and produced by Ritchie. The film is described as a “stylish revenge actioner set in the London criminal underworld.” That's familiar territory for these two, and exactly the kind of movie fans love seeing them make together.
Netflix is planning to begin production in early 2027, with filming taking place in the UK. Ritchie and Statham will also produce alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg, with Black Bear, Toff Guy Films, and Punch Palace serving as the production companies.
Dogfight will be the seventh film collaboration between Statham and Ritchie, a partnership that goes all the way back to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Their movies have delivered some great characters, sharp dialogue, brutal action, and plenty of British crime humor.
The duo also has Viva La Madness on the way, another crime thriller that brings them back together. That film is based on the novel by J.J. Connolly, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ritchie.
The book is a sequel to Connolly's debut novel, Layer Cake, which was previously adapted into a film by director Matthew Vaughn.
Statham leads an impressive ensemble in Viva La Madness that includes Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus, Harry Potter), Babs Olusanmokun (Dune, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare), Camila Mendes (Riverdale, Palm Springs), Ben Foster (Motor City, Hell or High Water), Jonny Lee Miller (The Crown, Elementary), and Raúl Alejandro, who will make his feature film debut.
While Netflix hasn't revealed specific plot details for Dogfight beyond its revenge-driven premise, the combination of Statham, Ritchie, and London's criminal underworld is already a pretty good selling point.
These guys have spent years making entertaining crime movies together, and it's cool to see that partnership continuing with two more projects. I'm especially interested in seeing what Ritchie has planned for Statham in Dogfight.
