Jesse Plemons Reportedly Offered Villain Role in Shawn Levy’s STAR WARS Film

Jesse Plemons might be heading to a galaxy far, far away… as a villain.

According to a new report from industry insider Daniel Richtman, Lucasfilm has offered Plemons a major antagonist role in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film.

While the studio hasn’t confirmed anything, the news is sure to ignite plenty of buzz, especially among fans curious to see what the post-Skywalker era of the franchise looks like.

This would be the second actor reportedly attached to the untitled project, with Ryan Gosling already rumored to be onboard. Details remain scarce, but Levy’s film is said to introduce a fresh cast of characters and take place about five or six years after The Rise of Skywalker.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy offered a few hints in a previous interview saying: “We may bring some of the characters back from the sequel saga, but pretty much new characters.”

She also confirmed that the story will stand on its own: “[It’s] post [Episode IX], maybe five or six years out.”

Plemons has been on a hot streak, delivering great performances in The Power of the Dog, Civil War, Kinds of Kindness, and of course, Breaking Bad, where he played the chillingly detached Todd Alquist. It’s easy to see why he’d be considered for a villainous turn in Star Wars.ndalorian.

This isn’t Plemons’ first brush with the franchise, either. It was once reported that he previously auditioned for a lead role in The Force Awakens. Clearly, Lucasfilm hasn’t forgotten him.

The project has been in the works for a few years, with screenwriter Jonathan Tropper confirming development is actively underway. While the film is expected to hit theaters in 2027, there’s still no official title, release date, or plot synopsis.

It’s also unclear whether Plemons’ potential character will be a brand-new creation or someone pulled from existing lore.

Still, the idea of Plemons as a Star Wars villain? That would be solid casting.
