John Krasinski Will Return To Direct A QUIET PLACE 2 and The Release Date Has Been Revealed
We knew that John Krasinski was writing the script for A Quiet Place 2, but there was no word on if he would be directing it or not… until today.
Deadline reports that Krasinski will be back to direct the sequel and that production on the sequel will start this July. Krasinski also announced on Instagram that the movie will hit theaters on May 15th, 2020.
I’m happy to hear that Krasinski is coming back to direct! I loved what he did with the first film and I’m excited to see what he’s got planned for the sequel. When previously talking about the new film, he explained that it “doesn’t feel like a sequel” and that it’s more like a ”second book in a series of books”.
He also said that one of the things he’s most excited about is offering a whole new perspective on this world that has been created with fresh new characters:
"The idea for it is pretty simple. I’m writing now—I don’t have it fleshed out—but the thought that occurred to me, that really excited me about it, was that most sequels are about the return of a hero or a villain. You take this character that people loved once and you bring them back, and you have to create a new world around them. We have the exact opposite setup. We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it. The reason I decided to go back, in the end, was this world is so rich, and it’s so much fun to explore. There are so many different things to see now. Everyone else in the world is experiencing this, so I’m curious to see what that looks like from another perspective."
Are you looking forward to A Quiet Place 2? Do you think it will be as good as the first film? I seriously hope that Krasinski is able to pull this off and give us another great horror movie!
