JOKER 2 Cinematographer Says It Takes a "Big Swing" and That It Will Surprise People
Todd Phillips is almost finished with his upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, which cinematographer Lawrence Sher says is “currently in the final stages of post-production.” Sher recently did an interview with Definition Magazine and he offered some insight into the project saying that it is a “big swing.” He said:
“Something I appreciate about Todd Phillips — who I’ve done seven movies with, including Joker — is that he’s always taking risks. We’ve got the new Joker coming out next year and we’re just finishing up post-production on it. This movie is a big swing and it’s going to be really surprising to people. I’m so excited for everyone to see it.”
Not much is known about the story the Joker sequel will tell, but it’s a musical, and the story will mostly be set in Arkham Asylum. The film’s working title, Joker: Folie à Deux, refers to the clinical term for the “shared madness,” hallucinations, and delusions of two people.
The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as Joker, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, with Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Brendan Gleeson who will be playing undisclosed characters.
Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters on October 4th, 2024. You can see some previously released images of Harley Quinn in full costume here.
