JURASSIC WORLD Reboot Looking to Cast WICKED's Jonathan Bailey Opposite Scarlett Johansson
Director Gareth Edwards is casting up his Jurassic World reboot and actor Jonathan Bailey is currently in talks to star in the big Universal and Amblin Entertainment project.
Bailey recently starred in the Showtime series Fellow Travelers, and he also appeared in Bridgerton, Crashing, Broadchurch, and more. He is also playing Fiyero in Universal’s Wicked.
Scarlett Johansson is also currently in talks to star in the film, so if everything works out, Bailey and Johansson will be starring alongside each other.
Steven Spielberg is also a producer on the film and original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp is writing the script for the movie, which will be “a completely fresh take” on the franchise. And none of the original actors from Jurassic Park or Jurassic World will return for the new movie.
Edwards, who impressed the producers with his pitch, previously talked about why he jumped on this Jurassic World film project, saying: "I was about to take a break and I started writing my next idea for a film and this is the only movie that would make me drop everything like a stone and dive right in. I love Jurassic Park.”
He added: “I think the first movie is a cinematic masterpiece... so this opportunity is like a dream to me. And to work with Frank Marshall and Universal and David Koepp, who's writing that script, I think they're all legends. So I'm just very excited."
Universal Pictures will release the film in theaters on July 2, 2025.
