Katee Sackhoff Is Shocked by the Fan Reaction to Bo-Katan in THE MANDALORIAN Season 3
As you know, I’ve been gushing about how much I’m loving the story arc for Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 3. Her journey took a very unexpected, yet exciting turn in Chapter 21 of the series, which is titled “The Pirate,” and she is given permission to remove her helmet by The Armorer so that she can walk both worlds in an attempt to unite the Mandalorian tribes. She is about to embark on an amazing adventure!
Sackhoff recently sat down for an interview with CB and MegaCon Orlando, and it’s there she opened up about the fan response to Bo-Katan, which has been overwhelmingly positive. She first explained:
"I don't want to talk too much about how I feel about it, because I find that a lot of times when I talk about how I feel about something, it does tend to, you know, put some spoilers out there and I really try to protect those, because I love being surprised and I think in the age of social media, we so rarely get surprised by things.”
But, then she went on to talk about how she felt and how shocked she was by the fan reaction, calling it a dream come true. She said:
"I think that the biggest thing that's shocked me about this entire season is actually just like the fan reaction. You know, I don't think that I've ever played a character that has been universally loved or at least tolerated ... I haven't seen any, like, genuine hate for her yet. You know, if somebody hasn't watched the season and they're talking about, you know, Clone Wars or Rebels, of course, there's going to be some hate. But, I don't know ... the fact that she's been embraced so much is quite amazing. I love it. It's, you know, dreams come true kind of stuff."
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have just been treating her character so well and they expanding on the character in a way that fans were not expecting. I know I wasn’t expecting it, but I sure am happy with the story they are telling! I’m so excited to see where this journey takes her. It’s so good to see Sackhoff is so happy about being able to continue to play this character.
