Kevin Feige Discusses Marvel's MOON KNIGHT and Teases The Character's Multiple Personalities
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently opened up a bit about Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight. He described the series as an ”action-adventure…Indiana Jones-type story” and also teased the multiple personalities of the the main character, who is being played by Oscar Isaac. He said:
“Bringing a whole new different vibe to the MCU…The character Moon Knight is a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. These multiple identities who live inside him are very distinct characters in the series. The backdrop of our story is an incredible Egyptian iconography. Egyptology is something the world’s always been fascinated by and we’re going to tap into it in a fun and bold way.”
Marvel Studios has hired Egyptian director Mohamed Diab (Clash) to helm the series, and they are planning to start production on Disney+’s highly-anticipated MCU series in early 2021 in Budapest.
The story for the series focuses on Marc Spector a.k.a. Moon Knight. The character’s different alter egos include millionaire Steven Grant and cab driver Jake Lockley. These alter egos may or may not be separate, alternate personalities, and the same may be true of Khonshu, the Egyptian deity who is either guiding Spector through his costumed adventures or a figment of Spector’s imagination. Most recently, the character was a consultant who dresses in all-white and goes by the name Mr. Knight.
Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin and appeared in the August 1975 issue Werewolf by Night #32. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy) and Beau DeMayo (The Originals and The Witcher) writing the series. Gregory Middleton (Final Girl, Watchmen, Game of Thrones) and Stefania Cella (Morbius) signing on as the series’ cinematographer and production designer, respectively.
The Moon Knight series is also rumored to tie into Marvel’s Blade movie, and Werewolf by Night, Stained Glass Scarlet, and Dracula could be involved with the story as well.
