Kevin Feige is Focusing on Next Two AVENGERS Films Like He Did in The Early MCU Days

For the first time in a long while, Kevin Feige might actually have some breathing room. According to a new report, the head of Marvel Studios has pulled back from juggling countless projects and is now laser-focused on delivering Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, just like the hands-on approach that defined the early days of the MCU.

The claim comes from Deadline reporter Justin Kroll, who recently spoke about Feige’s current mindset while appearing on the My Mom’s Basement podcast. He explained that the Marvel boss has stepped away from the constant grind of overseeing multiple movies and Disney Plus series all at once.

"Feige has been so stretched thin with the TV shows and all these other things, and then maybe doing Star Wars, and all these things. He has been solely focused on this and Secret Wars for, like, a year straight. Like, this has been it."

That shift appears to have changed how other Marvel projects are being handled. Feige is still involved at a high level, but he’s delegated more than usual, allowing trusted collaborators to steer certain corners of the MCU.

"He put Jake Schreier on as the director last year of X-Men. Other than that, he's kind of let Amy Pascal handle a lot of the Spider-Man stuff. So, just know that, people. He's in London all the time.

“If that dude has his mind set on just the one thing, like he used to do back in the day with Iron Man or Thor, they turn out good. It's when he has, like, eight other things, it gets a little tougher."

Even with Feige narrowing his focus, the MCU machine hasn’t stopped. Projects like Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 are still moving forward, just with a more hands-off approach from the top. That change may be intentional, especially with so much riding on Marvel’s next Avengers chapter.

Marvel’s recent theatrical output hasn’t matched the cultural or box office highs of Avengers: Endgame. Releases like Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps didn’t hit the same level of excitement or financial success, and Fantastic Four also struggled to maintain momentum on Disney+, losing the top streaming spot after just one week to the comedy sequel Freakier Friday.

That context makes Feige’s renewed focus feel critical. Avengers: Doomsday is positioned as a major course correction for the franchise, with expectations that it will restore confidence and excitement around the MCU’s big-screen future.

Fans won’t have to wait forever to see if that strategy pays off. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.

If Feige really is operating like it’s the Iron Man and Thor era again, maybe these Avengers films will end up being top teir Marvel movie entertainment. That’s what we’re all hoping for!
