Kevin Feige Offers Updates on SPIDER-MAN 4 and X-MEN Reboot

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has shared an update on the upcoming projects Spider-Man 4 and the X-Men reboot.

Fans are expecting some big announcements next week at Comic-Con, but while we wait for the big Marvel panel in Hall H, io9 caught up with Feige and asked him some questions about these two projects.

When offering some insight on where Spider-Man 4 currently stands, Feige said: "Amy [Pascal] and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon."

So, that project is moving forward, but it is still a long way out as a script has yet to be locked down. But, there’s a good chance that we will see the film by 2026.

As for Marvel’s X-Men reboot plans, Feige shared some insights into both the planned team roster and how X-Men '97 will inspire the movie's tone.

He said: "Well, it’s that phrase we use often at Marvel, which is 'It’s an embarrassment of riches,' and there are a lot of great X-Men characters in the Deadpool & Wolverine film.

“There are a lot of great X-Men characters in all of the Fox versions of the X-Men films. And there are a lot of great X-Men characters that have never gone on the big screen."

He continued: "So I think as we always try to do, as we did when we made the arrangement with Sony for Spider-Man, you’ll probably see a mix of characters you’ve seen before and characters you’ve never seen before."

Feige added: "I think the success of X-Men ’97 was really exciting for us to see people revisit and reconnect with that world. And dare I say, the soap opera elements of that world, which is one of the things that’s so exciting to us about jumping into it finally in the MCU."

I hope we learn more about the X-Men plans at Comic-Con, but I doubt they will really touch on that. It just seems so far out. But, they might reveal an X-Men movie release date. We’ll just have to wait and see.

A lot of fans think that Deadpool & Wolverine is going to going to set up what Marvel is planning for the X-Men, and we’ll learn soon enough if that is true!
