Kevin Feige Says He's Most Excited About THE FANTASTIC 4 Over of All Upcoming Marvel Movies
Out of all of the Marvel movies that are set to be released of the next few years, there’s one movie that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is most excited about.
You’d think that movie would be Deadpool & Wolverine because it’s going to make a billion dollars for the studio. The movie is going to give Marvel that box office success that it so desperately needs after a disappointing run.
But no… that’s not the one that Feige is excited about. He’s most excited about The Fantastic 4. He was recently a guest on The Official Marvel Podcast, when asked what excites him most about the upcoming movie and TV projects in The Multiverse Saga, he said:
"The corporate answer is: 'They're all our babies and we love them all equally.' And I'm very excited for Deadpool & Wolverine and then Agatha All Along and Captain America Brave New World and Thunderbolts* and the new Daredevil –- and that's all true.”
He continued: “But if you want the real answer, if we're trying to get real on this podcast, the answer is The Fantastic 4. I'm incredibly excited for what we're doing with The Fantastic 4 right now and with what Matt Shakman, our director who did WandaVision for us, is working on. He's already moved to London and we start filming at the end of July."
Feige then revealed that they begin filming right after this year's San Diego Comic-Con. He shared: "Funny story, we start shooting the Monday after Comic-Con. The day after Comic-Con is the first day of filming on Fantastic Four.
“And I'm extremely excited by it because I think those characters are mainstays, are legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we've never got to play with or explore in any significant way, apart from Multiverse of Madness and a few fun teases before in the way that we're doing it in that film.
“So I'm extremely excited for that, and I'm also excited for the two Avengers movies, and that'll be after Fantastic Four.“
They must be setting something up big with The Fantastic 4, and it will be interesting to see how they actually handle these characters. Fans have been waiting to see what Marvel would do with these characters for years, and fans are really hoping that they do something awesome with them.
Feige also confirmed the film will indeed be set in the ‘60s in an alternate-reality and he also announced when the film will start shooting.
He clarified the setting for the film, saying: "Yes, yes, very much so. It is a period. There were a lot of smart people, who noticed that that cityscape didn't look exactly like the New York that we know, or that existed in the '60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I'll say."
The movie stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.
Paul Walter Houser also recently was cast in the project in an unknown role, Natasha Lyonne, and Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) will take on the role of Shalla-Bal, who is an incarnation of Silver Surfer. Ralph Ineson will play Galactus.
The screenplay comes from Josh Friedman, who was brought in to rewrite the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
The Fantastic 4 is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
