Kevin Feige Talks About the Biggest Focus of THE FANTASTIC FOUR and Why "90% of the Work" Is Done

Fans are so excited that Marvel is taking on The Fantastic Four in what we are hoping will be the best big-screen iteration yet.

The incredible cast includes Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. Paul Walter Houser, Natasha Lyonne, and John Malkovich have been cast in the project in unknown roles, Ralph Ineson will play the villainous Galactus, and Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) will take on the role of Shalla-Bal, who is an incarnation of Silver Surfer.

The movie is being built upon this strong cast, which Marvel president Kevin Feige emphasized in a recent interview with CinemaBlend.

When asked about The Fantastic Four, Feige spoke to director Matt Shakman’s flair for visuals, before emphasizing the core of the story: “Matt Shakman is very, very good at utilizing visual effects. The most important thing for us… the stretching's gotta look cool, the rocky exterior of The Thing has got to look cool, the flames have got to look cool.

“[But] it's all about the characters. It's all about the family. It's all about [those] dynamics. So the minute we got that cast that we've announced signed up, 90 percent of the work was done. That is what the focus is of the movie.”

It sounds like they are on the right track, especially with this great cast. With the movie set to start shooting at the end of the month, it’s unlikely we will see any footage this week at Comic-Con, but we might hear some new details!

The Fantastic 4 will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
