Lots of New SCREAM VI Photos and Melissa Barrera Teases Kirby's Role in the Story
The Scream franchise returns this week with Scream VI, and we’ll know soon enough how this next twisted chapter in the story is going to play out. It’s going to be really interesting to see who the new villain or villains behind Ghostface’s mask ends up being.
While we wait, we’ve got 25 new photos to share with you from the movie, and the film’s star Melissa Barrera also talks a little bit about the return of Hayden Panettiere’s fan-favorite franchise Scream IV character Kirby and her motives. She makes it seem like they are questionable! During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said:
"She gets to play this, 'Is she, isn't she.' Like, 'Is she on their side, or is she not?' There's all these moments of doubt. I think fans are going to love that journey of hers."
It sounds like Kirby will have a fun and interesting role to play in the movie!
The next chapter of the horror saga “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.” They try to start this new chapter of their lives in New York City, and well… things don’t really go very well for them as Ghostface is back in action and on a killing rampage in the city.
Courteney Cox, who returns as Gale Weathers, previously talked about the new setting of the franchise saying: “Bringing Ghostface to New York adds an entirely new element to the story. Taking the character out of a small town and putting them in the heart of the city that never sleeps is more terrifying than ever.”
Co-writer Tyler Gillett previously talked about the pacing of the movie and how that has also been ramped up to the next level saying: "It really moves like it's on rocket fuel. You sit down, it starts, and the movie is just a ride. You get off two hours later, and you feel like you haven't taken a breath. This starts, and it just goes. So there aren't really these large pockets to talk about other movies. It of course has all of the fun nods and meta-commentary. But we really loved how accelerated this story is. It felt like a reflection of how accelerated the process of making it was."
Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not), are both back behind the camera for the upcoming Scream VI.
The cast also includes Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, Mason Gooding as Chad, Samara Weaving, Liana Liberato, Hayden Panettiere as Kirby, and Dermot Mulroney. Courteney Cox also previously confirmed her involvement. Some newcomers include actor Dermot Mulroney and Mission: Impossible star Henry Czerny, plus Jack Champion (Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water), Liana Liberato (Light as a Feather), Devyn Nekoda (Sneakerella), and Josh Segarra (Arrow's Adrian Chase).
Scream VI will be bringing Ghostface back to theaters in March 10, 2023.
