Lucasfilm Confirmed to Be Developing a Live-Action STAR WARS Series For Disney's Streaming Service

Yesterday we learned that Lucasfilm and director Rian Johnson was going to develop a whole new trilogy of Star Wars films completely separate from the Skywalker saga. This new saga is said to "introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored."

If that's not exciting enough, Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that there is a live-action Star Wars TV series currently in development! This is being developed for Disney's new streaming service.

There are no details on what the series will entail, but I really hope that it's the Star Wars: Underworld project that George Lucas and his team were developing for Lucasfilm before Disney bought them up.

There are said to be over 100 completed scripts of a 400 episode series that are ready to shoot when and if Lucasfilm ever decided to develop them further. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy previously talked about these scripts saying they are "gold" and that she wants to eventually "develop those things further."

So, it would make sense for them to put this Underworld series into development. There's also speculation that Star Wars Rebels producer Dave Filoni might be the person developing the show. That has yet to be confirmed, but it wouldn't surprise me if that ended up being the case.

I'm really curious to learn more about what Lucasfilm is planning for this series, so hopefully, we get some additional information on it soon!
