Lucasfilm's BOBA FETT Movie May Be Influenced By THE LAST ONE STANDING Star Wars Novel
Some new information has come to light regarding the kind of Boba Fett film we might see from Lucasfilm and director James Mangold. There have been a lot of rumors surrounding the state of the A Star Wars Story films at Lucasfilm, but after Lucasfilm and director Ron Howard addressed those rumors I don't think they are as big of a deal as people are making them out to be. I've sure we'll see plenty more of those films in the future, including Boba Fett.
Thanks to author Daniel Keys Moran, we now might have an idea of what we might see from this Boba Fett movie. You see, he says Disney has reached out to him to tell him they are looking to adapt his book, The Last One Standing: The Tale of Boba Fett. While talking to Star Wars Interviews, he says:
"I've had a guy at Disney email me a couple times over the years regarding Lucasfilm adapting Last One Standing into a Fett movie. Not asking permission, they own those works, just letting me know they were thinking about it. So that was kind. But after Solo stiffed, apparently there's some question about the Fett movie being made."
This isn't a confirmation of anything. This is just Disney saying that they are thinking about it. So it could go either way. The story is set two years after the Battle of Yavin and this is the synopsis of the book:
Old age and old injuries are finally starting to catch up with Boba Fett - as boredom and an uncertain future are catching up to Han Solo. While the latter leaves Coruscant to joyride in the Millennium Falcon, Fett accepts a bounty on the infamous “Butcher of Montellian Serat” - Labria the Devaronian. He drags him in the Slave IV, where the old criminal offers him something very valuable to let him go - old music that was banned by the Empire. Fett refuses, but Labria begs him to at least sell the music to a certain person after he is gone. Fett delivers Labria to Devaron for the unheard of reward of 5 million credits - just enough to get Fett a new leg, and to afford cancer treatment. As he mulls over this, he receives a message: Han Solo is on Jubilar. It is time to finally settle an old score, once and for all.
On the way, Fett listens to Labria’s precious music, and finds himself unusually touched by it. He arrives on Jubilar, and goes on the hunt for Solo. The hunt ends with Han and Fett in a faceoff, both sticking a blaster in the other’s face. Only two things will happen - they either both walk away, or they both die. They can not trust each other to drop their guns.... but strangely, they find they do not hate each other anymore, either. They finally give it up, each going back to their own lives.
I could actually see James Mangold doing something great with this story because there are a lot of similarities to what he did with Logan. It's like an Old Man Fett storyline! It would also be kinda cool to see Alden Ehrenreich back in the role of Han Solo again.
I have no idea if this is the direction that Lucasfilm is really looking to take Boba Fett, but I'm totally on board with the idea if it is. What do you all think?
