MADAME WEB Gets a New Featurette That Explains the Film's Characters and Story
Earlier today the first trailer was released for Sony’s upcoming Marvel Spider-Man spinoff movie Madame Web. We’ve now got a featurette here for you to watch that offers insight into the film’s characters and the story that it will tell. It includes interviews with director S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones) and star Dakota Johnson.
I’m not really sure about this movie. I think Madame Web is an interesting character, but it’s also the kind of character that needs really good writing for it to work. The trailer felt a bit wonky, but we’ll see if they can pull off telling a good story.
The synopsis for the film reads: “In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures… if they can all survive a deadly present.”
Madame Web also stars Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), and Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), along with Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps (The Upshaws), and Adam Scott (Severance).
Madame Web was created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr. in 1980. Madame Web is a blind psychic who has become a major player in the world of Spider-Man due to her ties to “The Great Web,” a multiversal construct that ties all “Spider” characters together across the multiverse.
The movie will be released in theaters on February 14th.
