Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Adressess Rumors of Original Avengers Returning to MCU

Last week, it was reported that Marvel Studios was talking about the possibility of bringing back the original Avengers team for a future Avengers movie. That report said those discussions included "reviving Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow."

A rumor later surfaced that said Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans reportedly agreed to return to the MCU. Well, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was recently asked about all of these rumors and this is what he told ET at The Marvels premiere:

"We did not discuss that and that is the truth. We're doing a project with Scarlett. I love Robert, he's part of the family. But in terms of returning, we'll have to see."

So, while he does say that Marvel has not discussed these things, he ended it with “We’ll have to see.” It’s not like Feige is going to confirm anything, so it’s deny, deny, deny until the truth comes out. I mean, look at what happened with Spider-Man: No Way Home. There were denials all over the place until all the rumors and speculation ended up being true.

That being said, I really don’t think Marvel should bring back Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America. I liked how their story arcs come to a close in the MCU and I’m ok with the films moving forward without them. Marvel just needs to strengthen their storytelling and put more time into their visual effects work.

As for the Scarlett Johansson project, it’s said to be something completely separate from Black Widow. It’ll be interesting to see what this secret Marvel project ends up being.

What do you think about Feige’s comments? Do you think Marvel will bring the old gang back together again? Do you want them to?
