Marvel Studios Reportedly Having Talks About Bringing Back Original Avengers Stars for Another Movie
Marvel Studios is reportedly looking at bringing back the original Avengers stars for another movie, and there’s apparently been active talk about making this happen.
The report comes from Variety, which said, “With Iger publicly acknowledging the downside of a Marvel TV glut that “diluted focus and attention,” the keepers of the comic book empire are considering some dramatic moves. Sources say there have been talks to bring back the original gang for an Avengers movie.”
The report goes on to specifically mention reviving Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, both of whom were killed off in Avengers: Endgame. The the multiverse being cracked open in the MCU and a variety of variants of all these characters running around, it wouldn’t be hard to bring these characters back. The big question is… would the actors even want to come back now? Maybe if Marvel offered them an amount of money that they can’t refuse.
Other characters on the original Avengers team include Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
The report does go on to say that the studio “hasn’t yet committed to the idea — if it were able to bring those actors back, it wouldn’t come cheap.”
Marvel and Disney are obviously hoping to get fans super excited about Marvel movies again at a time when there is superhero fatigue. The thing is… what they apparently haven’t learned yet is that it’s all about good quality storytelling and filmmaking. We really don’t need those characters to come back, and bringing them back doesn’t guarantee anything! If they bring them back and give us a sub-standard story, fans are going to be even more pissed. Just tell a good solid story regardless of who the characters are! That’s all I want, at least.
What did you think? What can Marvel do to get you excited about their films?
