Marvel Cancels HOWARD THE DUCK and TIGRA & DAZZLER Animated Shows
Marvel has officially canceled two of the new animated Hulu shows that have been in development. According to a new report, Howard The Duck and Tigra & Dazzler have both met their demise. The other two shows left that will eventually get canceled are M.O.D.O.K. and Hit Monkey. I imagine The Offenders crossover special is off the table as well at this point.
According to Variety, Marvel ultimately made the call not to move forward with the two shows. Tigra & Dazzler isn’t a surprise as its showrunner Erica Rivinoja and the show’s writing staff previously ended up splitting with Marvel over creative differences. The show was on hold… until now. Now, it’s dead.
The big surprise is seeing Howard The Duck get canceled because that’s the one that the Marvel fans were excited about, especially with Kevin Smith developing it alongside Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force). I guess Marvel didn’t care for how it was coming together. I have no idea, no reason was given. It’s a shame, though, because I really wanted to see that!
I figured this would happen after Marvel Studios announced it was shutting down the Marvel TV division that was under Jeph Loeb’s leadership. Kevin Feige has since stepped in to oversee all Marvel projects as chief creative officer.
While M.O.D.O.K. and Hit Monkey remain in development, I imagine that their cancelations aren’t too far off.
