Marvel Has Asked Mark Ruffalo Not to Comment on a HULK Standalone Movie
Mark Ruffalo has had a wild ride as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the MCU, and the last time we saw him was at the end of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law when he introduced his son Skaar. That set up a pretty big storyline for the character, and I think it’s safe to say that will eventually lead to a Hulk movie. It has been rumored that Marvel Studios is developing a Hulk movie, which they can do now as they’ve regained the rights to the Green Goliath.
Even if there is a Hulk movie in development, though, Ruffalo has been asked by Marvel Studios not to comment on it. During a recent interview with CB, when the actor was asked if the Disney and NBCUniversal deal for Hulu has changed anything regarding a Hulk movie, he responded:
"Not that I know of. I've been asked not to comment on it, that specifically. Hopefully one day though they'll work it out. I think it could be really cool and I've been putting a lot into what it could be to be cool, but I don't know yet."
When Marvel does move forward with a Hulk movie, it seems like things are being set up for a World War Hulk-inspired movie. However, it could be inspired by any number of Hulk story arcs from the comics. But, watching an angry Hulk looking to get revenge on Earth's Mightiest Heroes is a story that fans would love to see.
World War Hulk is a storyline that unfolds after the events of Planet Hulk. The Hulk, exiled from Earth by the Illuminati, crash-landed on the distant planet Sakaar, where he became a gladiator and eventually a ruler. However, tragedy struck when his adopted home was destroyed, leading the Hulk to return to Earth seeking vengeance.
If Marvel is developing a solo Hulk movie, there obviously aren’t any plans to officially announce it anytime soon. What kind of Hulk story do you think Marvel will tell?
