Marvel Reportedly Looking To Cast EUPHORIA Star Austin Abrams as The Sentry in THUNDERBOLTS
With Steven Yeun dropping out of Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie, the studio is looking to replace him, and according to a couple of Hollywood insiders, an offer has been made to Euphoria actor Austin Abrams. If he accepts the role, he will take on the role of The Sentry.
The duel movie scoop comes from r/DCULeaks and Daniel Richtman, who says: “In collaboration with @DanielRPK, we can report that Austin Abrams has the current offer for Sentry in ‘THUNDERBOLTS’.”
Abrams, also appeared in the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror film, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. It was previously reported that The Sentry will be part of Val's Thunderbolts team and will be involved for the first two acts before "something rips him away from them."
The cast of Thunderbolts includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes who will be leading the team, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julie Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and of course, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova. Then there’s Harrison Ford, who is taking on the role of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross who is going to be President of the United States in Captain America: New World Order. Ayo Edebiri also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns, Kidding), from a script by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) and Kurt Busiek. Thunderbolts is currently set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
