Steven Yeun Drops Out of Marvel's THUNDERBOLTS Movie
Steven Yuen is no longer going to appear in Marvel Studios‘ upcoming Thunderbolts movie. According to Deadline, the actor had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts after production on the movie was pushed due to the Hollywood strikes.
It was confirmed by Robert Kirkman that Yeun was going to be playing The Sentry. The Sentry is a deranged and incredibly powerful character, and it was previously reported that he will be part of Val's Thunderbolts team and will be involved for the first two acts before "something rips him away from them."
It sucks that Yeun was forced to drop out of the movie, and it looks like Marvel is going to be on the hunt for another actor to take on the role. Can you think of an actor that would be a good choice to play The Sentry?
The cast of Thunderbolts includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes who will be leading the team, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julie Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and of course, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova. Then there’s Harrison Ford, who is taking on the role of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross who is going to be President of the United States in Captain America: New World Order. Ayo Edebiri also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns, Kidding), from a script by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) and Kurt Busiek. Thunderbolts is currently set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
