Marvel Studios Shakes Up Release Calendar With Delays and Two New MCU Dates

Disney has updated its release calendar, delaying two Marvel films while locking in dates for two brand-new, still-mysterious entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Right now, Marvel has a sold slate rolling through theaters with Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday arriving 2026. Then Avengers: Secret Wars is set to land in 2027, which is expected to be a massive turning point for the franchise.

Now comes the shake-up. One untitled Marvel movie that was previously scheduled for February 18, 2028, has been moved to July 28, 2028. Then there’s another mystery Marvel project that had been dated for November 10, 2028, has been completely removed from the release schedule.

But, Disney also confirmed two new Marvel release dates with May 4, 2029, and July 13, 2029. No titles have been revealed yet, which opens the door for a lot of speculation.

There are a few obvious candidates fans have been waiting on. A third Black Panther film, the long-gestating Blade reboot, Jake Schreier’s take on the X-Men, and Midnight Sons are all possibilities.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed, and Marvel tends to keep these reveals close to the chest until the timing feels right.

Beyond that, there are other directions the studio could go. A sequel to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, a follow-up to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Armor Wars, or even a Young Avengers/Champions project could easily fill those slots.

At this point, it’s all speculation, but that’s part of the fun when it comes to Marvel’s long game.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are expected to reshape the MCU in ways fans probably won’t see coming. We do know that Joe Russo and Anthony Russo returning to direct both films, this is building toward another major cinematic reset.

Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, while Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027. Whatever happens in those films will likely determine what these newly dated 2029 projects end up becoming.

For now, Marvel fans are left playing the guessing game.
