Marvel's SHANG-CHI Wraps Production and SPIDER-MAN 3 Starts Shooting
Marvel Studios has been hard at work pushing the productions of their upcoming movies forward. Director Destin Daniel Cretton’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has completed production, and director Jon Watts has started shooting Spider-Man 3!
In regards to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. the director of the film and its lead star Simu Liu took to Instagram to officially announce that film has completed shooting. Liu went on to celebrate the film’s production wrap by expressing how excited he is for everyone to be able to see the movie, saying on Facebook:
“That’s a wrap on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings! Nine months from now we will break records and make history as the first superhero movie to feature an ALL-ASIAN cast that kicks so much ass it’s not even funny. Well, that’s a lie; actually, it’s quite funny, too. For all of us who have been hated for the color of our skin, or been made to feel less than because of it, NO MORE. This is OUR movie and it will be IMPOSSIBLE for Hollywood to ignore us after this.”
Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973 and was created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin. The character is described as a spy, a romantic, a philosopher, and an Avenger, and is one of the best martial artists in the Marvel universe.
The film is also said to “modernize the hero to avoid stereotypes that many comic characters of that era were saddled with. The comic launched around the time that Enter the Dragon became a global sensation and martial arts films raged.”
The highly-anticipated film is set to debut in theaters on July 9, 2021.
When it comes to Spider-Man 3, actor Tom Holland shared a video on Instagram who recently showed up in Atlanta to start work on the film. He excitedly says, ‘Okay so, we just landed in Atlanta, and uh… it’s time for Spider-Man 3, let’s go!’
There’s a lot of exciting and interesting things happening with Spider-Man 3, especially with Jamie Foxx reprising his role of Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Benedict Cumberbatch returning as Doctor Strange for the story! These are just the two things we know! But, I know there are a lot of other crazy things happening with the movie that still have yet to be officially revealed.
No plot details have been shared for Spider-Man 3, but there’s a lot of speculation that we will see multiple versions of Spider-Man show up for a multiverse-type storyline. There have been rumors that Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield might return, which Sony didn’t really deny, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Spider-Man 3 is currently set to be released on December 17th, 2021.
