Sony Pictures Responds to Rumors About Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Joining SPIDER-MAN 3
Earlier this week we shared a rumor that Spider-Man 3 will involve Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. This news has gotten a lot of Marvel fans excited about what this could mean for the kind of story that the film will tell.
With the inclusion of Jamie Foxx returning as Electro and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange confirmed to be a part of the story, there’s a lot of discussions and speculation that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are looking to blow open The Spider-Verse in the third film.
Sony has since responded to the rumor involving Maguire and Garfield. ET Canada received word from Sony that, “Those rumored castings are not confirmed.”
I just want to note that the studio doesn’t outright deny the rumor. They just say the rumor hasn’t been confirmed. Maybe the talks between the actors are still ongoing? If the rumor is true, I’m sure that it’s a bit of information that the studio doesn’t want to be confirmed yet because they simply aren’t ready to make an official announcement.
All I know is that at this point, with how we’ve seen things play out with these comic book movies, anything is possible. Anything can happen! We’ll just have to wait and see how this whole thing with Maguire and Garfield turns out.
