MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Promo Art Reveals First Look at Morena Baccarin’s Sorceress

Fans have been waiting to get a clean look at one of Eternia’s most important characters, and now we finally have it. New promo art for Masters of the Universe has popped up online, giving us our first proper glimpse at Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress of Grayskull, and it’s looking very true to the classic animated design.

Up until now, the Sorceress has mostly been kept in the shadows. The first trailer only teased her presence with a quick, slightly blurry shot, plus a brief moment of her soaring in falcon form as Zoar. That wasn’t nearly enough for longtime fans who know just how essential she is to the mythology.

Baccarin’s Sorceress appears in a costume that leans heavily into the original cartoon aesthetic, complete with the iconic winged look that ties directly to her connection with Castle Grayskull. It’s a faithful adaptation that should hit the nostalgia button for anyone who grew up with the series.

In the world of Masters of the Universe, the Sorceress, also known as Teela Na, is the guardian of Castle Grayskull and the keeper of its secrets.

She’s often portrayed as Teela’s mother and stands as one of the most powerful beings on Eternia. That power makes her a constant target for Skeletor and his forces, which should set up some intense moments in the film.

Baccarin recently opened up about joining the project and what the experience meant to her:

“I grew up watching He-Man, my brother and I, so it was a really big part of my childhood. It was really cool once I got there and saw the costume and what they had in mind for me — the whole get-up and the wig and contacts and all of it.

“I’m so excited to see what they make of it because I feel like my part of it was just such a small element to what it’s going to actually be in the end.”

The promo art also highlights several other characters, including Mekaneck, Ram Man, Spikor, and Goat Man, played by James Wilkinson, Jon Xue Zhang, James Apps, and Hafthor Bjornsson.

The cast for Masters of the Universe includes Nicholas Galitzine steppinginto the role of He-Man, with Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. Baccarin joins them as the Sorceress, alongside James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley as King Randor and Queen Marlena. Alison Brie will take on Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s right hand.

The supporting lineup keeps things interesting with Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Kristin Wiig lending her voice to Roboto.

Getting this movie made has been its own journey. Netflix had plans to develop a version back in 2022, but that iteration didn’t move forward.

The project eventually landed at Amazon/MGM Studios, with Travis Knight stepping in to direct. The script was reworked by Chris Butler, building off an earlier draft by David Callaham. At one point, the Nee Brothers were also attached to direct.

The story takes a slightly different angle on the classic origin. It follows a young Prince Adam who crashes on Earth and becomes separated from his Power Sword. Years later, he reconnects with his destiny and returns to Eternia, where he must face Skeletor and unlock his past to become He-Man.

Masters of the Universe is currently set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026. Check ou the first look at Sorceress below and let us know what you think!
