MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Star Nicholas Galitzine Explains Live-Action Film Will Be "Quite Different"

The new live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe movie has been in development for a very long time, and it’s finally moving forward under the direction of Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings).

Nicholas Galitzine will be taking on the role of He-Man, and he recently offered some insight into the film and explained how it will be different from the classic cartoon series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

He told Collider: “Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time.

“But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously since there was the Revelation version of Master of the Universe, and the comics themselves. And we’re very much treating our script as Bible, you know.”

He added: “But it’s kind of amazing to hear what this show meant to a lot of people. It was really formative for a lot of people, so it’s exciting to do something that will have a nostalgia element as well as hopefully attract a bunch of new fans.”

There have been reports on what the story for this movie will entail, and they have fans worried. The film is said to the film introduces Adam as an ordinary man, working "a boring office job" in the “real world.” The Masters of the Universe stories are merely tales Adam heard as a little kid.

The synopsis reads: “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia.

“After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.

“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”

The movie also stars Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Alison Brie (Community) as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba (Luther) as Man-At-Arms, while Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049) will play the villain Skeletor.

Then there’s Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.

The script was was written by Chris Butler (ParaNorman), and it builds on an earlier draft by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin are producing.

I want this Masters of the Universe movie to be a great film so bad, but these rumored story details aren’t what I want a Masters of the Universe movie to be.
