Michael Keaton Teases His Return as Batman in New Photo From BATGIRL Set

Michael Keaton recently shared a photo from the set of Batgirl teasing his return as Batman. It features a shadow of him cast on the ground, and as you can see, he’s wearing his full Batman costume. The actor was obviously feeling playful that day and is looking to get fans hyped for his return.

It’s still pretty crazy to me that after all these years Keaton will be back in the role of Batman! I’m excited to see how he’s utilized in The Flash, Batgirl, and any other projects they are planning for him! This new photo comes shortly after some set photos surfaced showing Keaton’s Batman in costume.

When talking about his return to Batman, Keaton said, "When it came around again, first of all, I was getting curious about it. I thought, 'Boy, what would that be like?' And then, coincidentally, there were murmurs, and I got a call from Warner Bros. They wanted to talk to me about something and there was hints of Batman. It has to be good. There's no reason to do it if it's not good. It's not gonna really change anything. And I just jumped in and had fun. And why would you not?”

Leslie Grace stars in the film as Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl, and she and Keaton are joined by Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly, JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Ivory Aquino will play Barbara's friend Alysia Yeoh, and Jacob Scipio is taking on an unknown role.

The film is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Falla from a script written by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey). Kristin Burr, who recently worked on Cruella, is producing the film, which is going to be released exclusively on HBO Max.
