Milla Jovovich Comments on The RESIDENT EVIL Movie Reboot

Big news hit early this week when we learned that Resident Evil was getting a movie reboot. Then yesterday it was announced that The Conjuring and Insidious director James Wan was going to be producing the films. Most of the time, fans are discouraged when movie reboots are announced, but with Resident Evil, there seems to be more of an excitement, which is kinda cool.

Milla Jovovich played Alice in all six films over the course of 15 years in the original franchise. She is very close to the franchise and is obviously one of its biggest supporters. If you're curious to know what she thinks of the upcoming reboot, she had this to say in an interview with CB:

"I think a lot of people with these franchises kind of put the cart before the horse. There's a danger to that. They've been wanting to reboot Resident Evil for a long time, and listen: I love the Resident Evil world. I think it's a great property, I would do it if I was a producer. I think what made Resident Evil so special is that the people involved really loved what they're doing and really were fans of the game. I would suggest that you find people that have that same passion for the property before you talk about reboots. I think if you get into this kind of genre, people are very sensitive to fakes. There's some real fans in the sci-fi/action/horror world, and they're not idiots. They can smell when something is done because people love it and when something is done just to monetize an opportunity."

Well, with Wan on board to produce I couldn't be more excited. The guy knows how to tell a great horror story and with him leading the charge on the reboot, I think we'll end up getting a great film, but only time will tell what kind of movie we'll actually get.

It can't be any worse than the previous films! I enjoyed the first Resident Evil movie that was made and the rest had some fun elements but none of them were great films. That's what I'm hoping for with this reboot.

It'll be interesting to see how this new film comes together. I hope they get a talented writer, director, and cast to bring it to life. There's no information on what story Wan will tell, but there are a lot of stories and characters to choose from in this video game franchise.
