MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING Brings Back Another Character From the First Movie
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie has revealed that another character from the original film will be appearing in the next two installments of the franchise. Rolf Saxon will be back to reprise his role as former CIA analyst William Donloe.
The announcement came with a first-look black and white photo of the actor in the role. I love that they are bringing back characters from the first film into this next chapter of the story! One of the other characters returning is former IMF director Eugene Kittridge, who’s played by Henry Czerny.
William Donloe was the overall Gatekeeper for the Non Official Cover list of agents embedded in various organizations world wide. During the events of the first movie Donloe is given a foreign agent which incapacitates him long enough for Ethan Hunt and his crew to narrowly escape with the NOC list. Donloe returned mere seconds after the list was stolen. Donloe was removed from his duties in Langley and sent directly to a polar substation in Alaska.
The rest of the cast includes Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Vanessa Kirby along with newcomers Shea Whigham (Joker), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Infinity War) and Esai Morales (La Bamba, Titans), Charles Parnell, Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes (Saw). Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds, Albert Nobbs), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), and Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, Nightmare Alley).
I’m excited about this movie and apparently, it’s testing through the roof with test audiences! Paramount Global president Bob Bakish recently said: "I haven’t seen all of Mission: Impossible 7, but I’ve seen a bunch of it. We actually just did the first test screening for an audience last week, and the audience lost their mind. And it’s still too long, they’ve got to cut it. But the movie is insane. It’s like a complete thrill ride. And [Tom Cruise], he’s very good."
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two will be released on July 14th, 2023, and June 28th, 2024. You can watch the teaser trailer for the movie here.
