Multiple Mutants Rumored To Show Up in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY
A new rumor tied to Spider-Man: Brand New Day is stirring up some interesting mutant talk. With the next chapter of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man set to hit theaters soon, it sounds like Peter Parker could be crossing paths with more than one mutant when the film arrives.
Up to now, most of the conversation has centered around the possible appearance of Jean Grey, a core member of the X-Men. That rumor has been floating around for a while, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation from Marvel Studios or Sony. Now, things are getting a bit more interesting.
According to YouTuber and podcaster The Geeky Cast, there may actually be multiple mutants showing up in the film. The claim was shared on X, though no source was provided to back it up. So while it’s definitely an exciting idea, it’s firmly in rumor territory for now.
Naturally, fans jumped in with their own theories. One response suggested that Cyclops could be the second mutant appearing, which makes sense given his long-standing connection to Jean Grey across Marvel comics and adaptations.
But that idea was quickly shut down, with the scooper replying that Scott Summers won’t be part of the movie. That said, fans will still see a version of Cyclops soon, as James Marsden is set to return as the character in Avengers: Doomsday this December.
This latest rumor also builds on recent speculation sparked by the film’s teaser trailer. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed a quick shot of a young girl on a bus who had a hairstyle and color scheme that looked very similar to Rogue’s classic look. Whether that was actually Rogue or just a coincidence hasn’t been confirmed, but it definitely got people talking.
Either way, Marvel might be laying the groundwork for mutants to start weaving into Spider-Man’s corner of the MCU. If true, that opens up a lot of possibilities for how these worlds will collide moving forward.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set four years after No Way Home, with Peter Parker now completely erased from the memories of everyone he loves, including Ned and MJ.
The film follows Peter as he throws himself deeper into being Spider-Man, investigating a wave of crimes tied to a dangerous new threat. Along the way, he goes through a painful transformation that amplifies his spider-like abilities, even giving him organic webbing.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with a script from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who also worked on the previous Spider-Man MCU films.
Holland returns as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo.
With a release date locked in for July 31, 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be a pretty wild evolution of the character. If mutants really are part of the story, things could get even more interesting in a big way.
