New AHSOKA Footage Shows Sabine Wren Wielding Ezra Bridger's Lightsaber

There’s a little cool detail that I initially missed when watching the last trailer that was released for Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: Ahsoka series. There is a brief bit of footage that shows Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) wielding Ezra Bridger's lightsaber!

In the footage, which you can see in the trailer below, Sabine is shown brandishing a green lightsaber as she finds herself facing off with the new villain Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno).

As you might imagine, hardcore fans are freaking out over the moment on Twitter.

Another fan enthusiastically said: "SABINE WIELDING EZRA'S LIGHTSABER MY HYPE IS THROUGH THE F**KING ROOF"

It is exciting! And one day, I imagine we will see Ezra reunited with his lightsaber. The show will pick up where Star Wars: Rebels left off, with the search for Ezra Bridger. The series is set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka “follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”

That threat is Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), and Ezra took off with him to an unknown location. Sabine joins Ahsoka on her journey, and she is still very much dedicated to finding Ezra. They will be joined by Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), the droid, Chopper, and Zeb will also most likely return. When talking about Ezra, Bordizzo previously said:

“She feels an obligation to him. When they freed Lothal, she was given this hero status. But she doesn’t feel that she’s earned that because she lost her friend in that whole debacle. She’s just focused on the promise she made to him to find him.”

The official logline for the series reads: “Set after the fall of the Empire, Star Wars: Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”

The series also stars Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ivanna Sakhno, Eman Esfandi as Ezra, Ray Stevenson as Baylon, and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.

The limited series is written by Dave Filoni who executive produces along with Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy.

The series is set to debut on Disney+ on August 23rd, 2023
