New DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Photo and the Showrunner Teases "Absolutely Batsh*t" Violence

A new image was released for Daredevil: Born Again showing off Matt Murdock’s new suit. But, the showrunner also teases the brutal violence that the series will entail.

Duirng an interview with Empire, Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) made it clear that this series will not water down the violence. In fact, it will go beyond anything that we saw i the Netflix series.

He said: “The level of violence is way up there for a Marvel/Disney show. I don’t think there’s anything else even in the ballpark. There’s a moment in this that is just absolutely batshit, and way past anything Netflix ever did.”

Damn… ok. I mean, the Netflix show was pretty brutal, so to think they are going to go beyond that? What does that even look like?!

Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio went on to add that Born Again is both deeper and darker. “There’s a world in which you might think that if that show kept running, we’d be in this place eventually, or something like it. But we’ve gone further in the darkness, the action, the nastiness.”

Scardapane goes on to tease the rivalry between Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Kingpin, saying: “If you look at how it ends almost every season, they punch the shit out of each other, Kingpin goes to jail, we know he’s gonna come back. I didn’t want to do that.

“This dynamic is way more tense. There’s one scene between them in the first episode that lays it all out. Then we spend the next eight episodes throwing rocks at it.”

In Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again, “Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”

Producer Brad Winderbaum previously teased some of the action in the series, saying: “I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming in Daredevil: Born Again, which isn’t a horror show, but really it packs a lot of power and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least.”

He went on to tease how things have changed, saying: "These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society's changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.

“And their characters are gonna collide in ways we've never seen before. It's no longer enough to try to murder each other. There's a whole game of politics at play."

The series also sees Elden Henson return as Froggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, , Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.

The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Jeremy Earl, and more.

Daredevil: Born Again is being developed by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on both Moon Knight and Loki.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to arrive on Disney+ on March 4th, 2025.
