New DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Rumors Involve Details on Cassandra Nova and a Multiverse Twist
Some new rumored details have emerged for Deadpool & Wolverine and they involve Cassandra Nova's villainous role in the story along with an interesting multiverse twist.
Emma Corrin is taking on the role of Cassandra Nova in the film, who is Charles Xavier’s evil twin sister, and she’s going to be causing some serious issues. Possible SPOILERS ahead!
According to Inside Scooper @Cryptic4KQual this version of the character will be "faithful and true" to the comic books. She’s described as an "evil and twisted [and] a serious nutcase of a villain." It’s also shared that Cassandra "has no [regard] for life and is a very formidable adversary."
Another thing that was revealed is that Magneto's helmet is mentioned as a means to fight against her and her telepathic abilities. But, unfortunately, "she already got to it."
Scooper Daniel Richtman also shared some additional details about the film and how the story will introduce a new concept to the MCU. It’s explained that there's one specific being in every universe and without them, their respective reality will die.
This is a concept that was introduced in the comics by writer Jonathan Hickman. It’s explained by CBM, that when “he brought back Molecule Man. The Beyonders created him as a singularity across every reality, giving the former villain the function of a ‘bomb’ that would destroy his respective universe if he were to die.”
Essentially, “Molecule Man became the default origin of Incurisons, with Doctor Doom later collecting his Variants to use as a weapon against The Beyonders.”
For those of you not familiar with Cassandra Nova, she is attacked by Charles Xavier in the womb, only to survive with the goal of getting revenge on him. She hid for years inside her brother's body before replicating his DNA scheme to obtain a body of her own. Yeah, it’s a weird character but one that is going to fit perfectly for this Deadpool sequel.
Cassandra Nova made her debut in Marvel Comics in New X-Men #114 back in 2001. She was created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely and she preys on mutants, and her goal is to use her crazy powers to wipe out all the mutants. At one point, she was responsible for the death of 16 million mutants through the destruction of Genosha.
In the comics, Cassandra Nova is a "Mummudrai," a malevolent spirit considered the equal and opposite of a person in Shi'ar culture. She emerged as a result of a cosmic occurrence involving Charles Xavier, taking on a physical form in the womb as his "twin." The baby Charles instinctively recognized her as a threat, leading to a harrowing battle that ended with their mother miscarrying Cassandra Nova.
Surviving as a mass of cells in a sewer wall, Cassandra Nova managed to rebuild a body for herself, all while plotting her ultimate revenge on Charles Xavier. Her vendetta included taking his place and orchestrating the horrific genocide of 16 million mutants by unleashing giant Sentinels on the nation of Genosha.
It was also previously rumored that Cassandra Nova's look in Deadpool 3 will be a faithful adaptation from the comics. This means we can expect her to sport a bald head, a white shirt, a corset, and a brown trench coat paired with high-waisted tan pants and a brown belt. I believe there was a shot of her from behind in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer.
Another rumor says that a chase scene was filmed in the UK, with the location designed to resemble New York City. In this scene, Nova was supposedly chasing Deadpool and Wolverine, utilizing her portals as a means of transport.
In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."
It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"
The film also stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA agent, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand, and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. Rob Delaney will return as Peter and Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie. Henry Cavill is also set to play Wolverine in the film.
Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!
