We’ve got a new trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife for you to watch today, and it’s pretty freakin’ exciting! I won’t lie, I got a little emotional watching it. The movie just looks so darn good! Producer Ivan Reitman previously said that he loved the movie so much that it made him cry. Maybe the fans better go see this movie with a box of tissues in hand.

Look, Ghostbusters is one of my all-time favorite movies, and the footage I’m seeing in these trailers hits all the nostalgic sweet spots!

In the film, Egon Spangler’s family moves to a small town where they learn about their grandfather’s legacy and that he used to catch ghosts for a living. I love the story of a couple of kids slowly discovering something incredible about their grandpa and his legacy.

The synopsis for the next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe reads, “A single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.”

Also, it looks like my theory that the story also has something to do with Ivo Shandor and the Cult of Gozer was right! You can read more about that here, but the return of Gozer is definitely teased in this trailer. It also teases the return of the original Ghostbusters. But, the trailer mostly puts a focus on the kids and the crazy adventure that they find themselves on.

The film was directed by Jason Reitman from a script he wrote with Gil Kenan. The movie stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver are also said to be returning.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be released theaters everywhere starting November 11th, 2021.
