New Image of Rosario Dawson in STAR WARS: AHSOKA and "She Walks A Path That Died Out A Long Time Ago"

The journey of Ahsoka Tano continues in Lucasfilm’s highly-anticipated series Star Wars: Ahsoka, and we’ve got a new image to share with you featuring Rosario Dawson in the title role, looking stoic.

Ahsoka has been a fan-favorite character ever since she was introduced in the Star Wars universe as Anakin Skywalker’s teenage apprentice. She has been on a long and intense journey which led to her facing off with Darth Vader. She made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian and later in The Book of Boba Fett, but now, the focus will be put on her and her mission.

Her next story picks up where the animated series, Star Wars Rebels, left off. She finds herself once again teaming up with Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and more as they continue their journey to find Ezra.

It’s explained in an interview with Empire that Ahsoka will find a new purpose in the story. She doesn’t consider herself a Jedi, and when talking about her character and the place that she’s in now with her life, Dave Filoni said:

“She’s a wanderer at this point, and is in a lot of ways wary of any organisation as such because of the power that comes with it as a group. She walks a path that basically died out a long time ago, and there aren’t many like her left, if any. So that’s a lonely thing. What is that life like? If you are a loner, you have a very small circle of friends. What is it like, then, when you try to open back up?”

While she has been walking a lonely life, it’s good to know that she will reconnect with old friends for a shared purpose to find their friend. Some of the other characters that will appear include Chopper the droid, and Zeb, who appeared in the last season of The Mandalorian. When talking about the biggest challenge of making this series, Filoni said:

“The biggest challenge was, there’s a whole bunch of audience that know her, and a whole bunch that don’t. She has one foot in the Star Wars that a lot of people know because of her connection to Anakin, and yet she’s all new and can go in her own direction, in her own way. I think that makes her an interesting bridge between what came before and what’s really possible.”

When asked what George Lucas thinks about all of this, Filoni said: “It’s almost like when you turn in a big paper at school. It’s like, ‘Here it is!’” I’m sure that Lucas will love it. I’m so excited about this show, and I have no doubt that Filoni is going to deliver an incredible Star Wars series!

The series will debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
