New Photos of Lady Gaga at Harley Quinn in JOKER: FOLIE Á DEUX Along With Additional Insight
Here’s a new photo of Lady Gaga all decked out at Harley Quinn in DC’s Joker: Folie à Deux, which continues the journey of Arthur Fleck and what is going on in his insane life and mind.
Gaga plays Harleen "Lee" Quinzel, an Arkham Asylum patient who falls for Arthur Fleck, aka Joker Oscar, and she also served as music consultant on the musical sequel.
While talking to Empire Magazine, Gaga said: "People know me by my stage name, Lady Gaga, right? That's me as that performer, but that is not what this movie is; I'm playing a character. So I worked a lot on the way that I sang to come from Lee, and to not come from me as a performer.”
She went on to say: "How do you take music and have it just be an extension of the dialogue, as opposed to breaking into song for no conceivable reason? It was unlike anything I've ever done before."
It’s going to be interesting to see how they pull this off and if people will show up to watch it. The girl film made over a billion dollars, but now that people’s interest in this Joker has been fulfilled, will they show up for more?
In the film, Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) is institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him.
Arthur’s true love in the film is Harley Quinn who forms a strong relationship with Joker and together they embark on a journey filled with violence and music.
The film was directed by Todd Phillips and the early reviews for the film have been strong.
The Joker sequel will be a jukebox musical that will consist of 15 well-known songs, and its story will mostly be set in Arkham Asylum. The film’s title, Joker: Folie à Deux, refers to the clinical term for the “shared madness,” hallucinations, and delusions of two people.
The movie is said to be inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s infamous 1982 movie flop One from the Heart. Lawrence Sher praised director Phillips for going bold on the sequel, saying: “Something I appreciate about Todd Phillips — who I’ve done seven movies with, including Joker — is that he’s always taking risks. We’ve got the new Joker coming out next year and we’re just finishing up post-production on it. This movie is a big swing and it’s going to be really surprising to people. I’m so excited for everyone to see it.”
The movie also stars Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, with Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Brendan Gleeson who will be playing undisclosed characters.
Joker: Folie á Deux is scheduled for release on October 4, 2024. If you haven’t seen the most recent trailer yet, check it out here.
