New Rumored Details Surface for THE FANTASTIC 4 and Its Alternate Universe Setting
Some new rumored details have surfaced for Marvel’s The Fantastic 4 that you might find interesting, as they involve the film’s alternate universe setting and the birth of Reed and Sue's son, Franklin.
Last week a poster was released for the film featuring Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm as The Human Torch flying through the sky.
There was also one other interesting detail, which included a cool retro-looking 1960s version of Central City, the home of The Fantastic 4.
According to Inside Scooper Can We Get Some Toast, the movie most likely will be set in an alternate universe, a retro-futuristic universe. We know that the Space Race in a big “inspiration” for the film as well, but the Space Race of an alternate timeline, which will be interesting.
Another report claims that Reed Richard and Sue Storm’s children will be introduced in the film, and there’s a possibility that Sue will be pregnant when she’s introduced. It’s explained that she will later give birth to Franklin Richards... in space.
If this is true, this doesn’t follow the origin of the character in the comics. I wonder if this will have something to do with the news that Julia Garner will play the Shalla-Bal version of the Silver Surfer, who existed in a timeline where Franklin Richards was Galactus.
Franklin becomes an incredibly powerful mutant and it known for his reality-warping abilities. In one storyline, Franklin assumes the mantle of Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds and ends up saving the Earth by consuming the Celestial growing inside.
Regardless, there are a lot of different directions that Marvel could take this Fantastic Four story, and I’m excited to see what the creative team takes it!
Kevin Feige previously said: “A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before? We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
The movie stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.
Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) was also recently cast and will take on the role of Shalla-Bal, who is an incarnation of Silver Surfer.
The movie is set in the 1960s, and it will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
Fantastic 4 will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
